Description
WE LEAD NOLA (Wind Energy Leadership, Education & Academic Development in New Orleans) is an educator-focused STEM program that equips high school teachers with hands-on training, classroom materials, and ongoing support to bring wind energy, engineering, turbine design, and renewable energy concepts into their classrooms. Through the program, educators build their capacity to deliver project-based STEM learning while guiding students through designing, building, and testing wind turbines and preparing for the annual KidWind Challenge.
The 2026–2027 program will serve high school STEM educators in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parishes and includes professional development, classroom resources, and support throughout the school year. The program connects classroom learning with real-world applications in engineering and renewable energy while helping students develop problem-solving, teamwork, technical communication, and engineering design skills
The LSU New Orleans Research & Technology Foundation connects students, educators, and communities with innovative educational opportunities that inspire exploration, creativity, entrepreneurship, and career development. Through partnerships with the University, schools, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations, the Foundation supports programs that provide students with hands-on learning experiences, exposure to emerging industries, and opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world applications.
Our programs span entrepreneurship, STEM, energy, workforce development, innovation, and leadership. Opportunities may include workshops, competitions, classroom experiences, professional mentorship, educator development, and experiential learning programs designed to help students build skills, explore career pathways, and turn their ideas into action.
The Foundation is committed to expanding access to high-quality educational experiences and building connections between education, industry, and the broader community to help prepare the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
